How many lengths did you do before breakfast in your pool? The photos came loud and clear down the copper, have a good Christmas and watch the mozzies.
How does he do this? Neil i.e. We were met at Rio airport by Junior, who’s not so junior these days, but who smiled with every sentence and spoke English perfectly. Our little taxi rumbled up cobbled streets past the Sambadrome where I danced in the carnival 11 years ago. Within the hour we were delivered to our AirBnB which turned out to be the old home of the provisional governor of the area. It’s a beautiful colonial building high in the hills of Santa Teresa overlooking Rio, surrounded by a garden full of tall tropical plants hanging over a cool swimming pool. We were greeted warmly by our new hosts, who we discovered later had been BBC documentary producers, and within the hour we were drinking beers and caipirinhas in Ronald Biggs favourite bar. Everywhere we turned the walls were decorated with colourful artwork and the area was buzzing with music bars and arty restaurants. No wonder Ronald Biggs chose to live here.
